About the All Progressives Congress

Founded in 2013 through the historic merger of Nigeria’s leading opposition parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) became the ruling party in 2015 with the election of President Muhammadu Buhari — the first time an incumbent president was defeated at the polls in Nigeria’s history.

The party was re-elected in 2019, and in 2023 Nigerians elected President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the party’s Renewed Hope agenda.
