President Tinubu secured the APC ticket on May 23, 2026, winning the party’s direct presidential primary conducted across all 8,809 wards in the 36 states and the FCT, and was declared winner on May 24, 2026.

About the Party
Founded in 2013 through the historic merger of Nigeria’s leading opposition parties, the All Progressives Congress became the ruling party in 2015 with the election of President Muhammadu Buhari — the first time an incumbent was defeated at the polls in Nigeria. Re-elected in 2019, the party won again in 2023 with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Renewed Hope agenda.

When are the 2027 elections?
Presidential and National Assembly elections hold on Saturday, January 16, 2027. Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections hold on Saturday, February 6, 2027.
How do I vote?
Registered voters cast their ballots in person with a valid Permanent Voter Card (PVC) at their assigned polling unit. Accreditation is conducted with INEC’s BVAS device. Confirm your registration and polling unit through INEC’s official voter verification channels.
Who are the APC candidates?
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the APC presidential candidate. INEC has published the final list of all 18 presidential candidates and their running mates.
What law governs the election?
The Electoral Act 2026, which replaced the 2022 Act. A September 2026 Supreme Court judgment confirmed that parties must submit digital membership registers to INEC ahead of primaries and conventions.
